TimingLockTM

November 17, 2008 - The TimingLock has been superceded by the TimingLock Pro. The TimingLock Pro has all of the functionality of the original TimingLock and more. The original TimingLock is no longer available for purchase, but is still supported by XPI.

The TimingLock is a simple and effective timing solution for your Ford TFI-IV vehicle. The TimingLock does not modify your ignition timing during normal driving conditions; however, upon activation, your timing is locked to the advance of your choosing. The TimingLock can be activated with a boost pressure switch, a nitrous oxide system or a toggle switch. Perfect for power adder applications. Includes a 2-step rev-limiter.

The TimingLock installs in minutes and allows you to adjust your locked timing without ever touching the distributor. Now you can have great idle quality and gas mileage under normal conditions and still enjoy the benefits of precise locked timing when you need it.

Included with the TimingLock is a built-in rev-limiter that removes spark from alternating cylinders to safely limit your engine's RPM. The rev-limiter also has a 2-step function for improved launching.

The TimingLock was designed specifically for 88-95 Mustangs with TFI-IV (ECU's such as the A9L & A9P).

List price: $149.95

TimingLock FAQ

Q: Will the TimingLock work with my aftermarket ignition system?
A: The TimingLock modifies the SPOUT signal to change the timing. Therefore, the TimingLock should be transparent to any aftermarket system.

Q: Does the TimingLock require a laptop?
A: No laptop is required. Everything is programmed using the buttons on the front of the unit.

Q: Can I mount the TimingLock inside the engine bay?
A: We do not recommend it! We strongly recommend installation inside the vehicle.

Q: How much can you vary the locked timing?
A: The TimingLock can vary the locked timing to any degree of advance that your overall ignition system will allow.

Q: How much current does the TimingLock draw?
A: The TimingLock draws 100 mA max at 12 volts.

Q: Will the TimingLock work with Ford EDIS?
A: No, unlike TFI-IV and DIS that use a SPOUT signal, EDIS uses a SAW signal to control the timing.

Q: How do you reset the TimingLock to factory defaults?
A: Press and hold all three buttons simultaneously, then key on. Once the red LED illuminates solid, release all of the buttons. This will reset the locked timing and the two rev-limiters.
